Episode 3 - Night From Hell
On the Alaska Railroad the vital port of Whittier is in lockdown with the only escape route – a two-mile tunnel – shut down by damaged track. Bill and Davy must urgently bring in a new piece of rail over 1200 foot long and stretching over 23 rail cars. But transporting the delicate load 90 miles around tight curves will be difficult.
In the woods rookie homesteader Roger Bickleman has never ventured more than a mile from his cabin in the 18 months he’s lived off grid. Now he’s setting off on an ambitious expedition to blaze a trail to a river – but when a wrong turn leaves him lost he’s faced with a night outdoors. Meanwhile long time offgridder Jim James is relying on passenger train conductor Harry Ross to get him to hospital after an accident – but an obstacle on the tracks causes problems.
