Episode 9 - Ice Attack
In Alaska, rising temperatures and break up are bringing new and dangerous challenges, with melting ice and snow wreaking havoc for off gridders. Nancy and Jim James face hungry bears emerging from hibernation as they trek to an abandoned cabin. For remote settlers, Larry and Kathy Lake it’s a race against time as they brave the melting trails in search of an off road vehicle, their only lifeline for life or death emergencies.
On the rivers, massive ice sheets are on the move and heading straight for the rail tracks. The entire railroad is on high alert, Freight crew George, Bill and Wanda must race equipment and bulldozers north to protect the tracks from the onslaught, but they risk being hit by huge ice blocks along the way. It’s one final battle with mother nature before winter finally gives way to spring.
