Just 300 miles south of the Arctic Circle, off grid homesteaders Cathy and Larry Lake are facing their worst nightmare. During a recent freeze their well has frozen solid. In the wilderness, it’s critical they have fresh water to survive and the battle is on to fix the well - fast. Whilst near the frontier town of Talkeetna, JT Evans has an ingenious plan to bring a taste of the tropics to Alaska. His dream is to create an indoor heating system which will allow him to grow exotic fruits and vegetables year round in Alaska. But after working on his plan for 15 years can he finally pull it off?
On the railroad - killer ice and an abandoned car put the freight train on a collision course with disaster. Overnight a snow storm has dumped 20 inches of snow on Alaska Railroad’s Anchorage headquarters, threatening to shut down the entire railroad operation. Maintenance teams are on high alert and snow clearing equipment is desperately needed to clear the tracks.
Freight crew, George, Wanda and Bill are tasked with transporting the snow clearing bulldozers from Whittier to Anchorage. They have just hours to make their crucial delivery, but their route is blocked by an abandoned car on the tracks, and maintenance teams must frantically try to move the car out of their way and avoid disaster. Whilst down South track teams are taking aim at a serious ice problem- shooting down dangerous 15 foot icicles.
