At the foot of the stunning Kootenai Valley Mountains, lies the small town of Libby, Montana, where a close-knit Amish community thrives, away from the distractions of modern life. But in the surrounding wilderness and townships you’ll find hundreds of lavish wooden wonders – from 5000-sqft, three-storey mansions to small romantic river cottages – all of which were built by a single Amish family – by hand!
In Kansas, Elvie and Abby build a two thousand square foot, luxurious lodge for a doctor and his son. Elvie has big ideas for this beautiful lakeside lot. While he designs a huge wrap-around deck and open plan master bed in the loft, Abby visits a local sculptor to design a one-of-a-kind wagon wheel chandelier. But as the temperatures rise and plans change, it’s a race against time to get the dream log home finished in time for the 4th of July fireworks.
High in the Colorado Rockies, Elvie and designer Abby create a classic, log chalet for a family who loves the outdoors. While Elvie struggles with the steepness of the lot and how they are going to get the logs onto site, Abby works on her vision of a contemporary, yet functional log cabin. But with temperatures dropping and snowstorms rolling in, it will be a massive challenge to get this mountainside cabin finished in time for Thanksgiving.
In the shadows of Yellowstone National Park, Elvie and Abby start work on a small but perfectly formed log home. They face a challenge to create a cabin with everything the family needs without over-filling the space. While designer Abby investigates stylish, space-saving furniture, Elvie and his crew struggle to get the logs onto site and have to contend with a last minute design change. The team will have to race to complete this dream log cabin before the end of the summer.
In Montana, Elvie and designer Abby are faced with their biggest log cabin of the year. While Elvie draws up a design to capture the spectacular views of the Cabinet Mountains, Abby visits a local craftsman to create a one-of-a-kind bar, made from an old truck hood, as a centerpiece for the socialising space. Building and installing this four thousand square-foot Montanan mansion will stretch Elvie and Abby to the limits, and with thunderstorms on the horizon it’ll be a race against time to finish before the snow flies.
