After 7 years as a drum and bass DJ, Joby decided he needed a more rock and roll job, so began a career in television. He completed his post-grad at Goldsmiths and started as a researcher in BBC Scotland’s specialist factual department. Generally misunderstood for his radical approach to filmmaking, this maverick finally found his natural home at Windfall in 2010, under the Yoda-like guidance of Carlo Massarella.
Since then, filming extraordinary feats of science and engineering have become his hallmark, series directing BBC2’s genre-defining Fifteen Billion Pound Railway (3 x 60), BBC4’s Rebuilding Notre-Dame (1 x 60) and various NOVAs for PBS, including Operation Lighthouse Rescue and Operation Bridge Rescue. Other highlights include The World’s Biggest Ship (6 x 60) for Discovery and Building Giants (8 x 60) for Channel4.
