The Film

David Attenborough tells the revealing story of this Caribbean island’s exotic but vulnerable wildlife.

After being colonised by humans Puerto Rico’s rich natural resources were rapidly exploited for agriculture, industry and urban development. A staggering 95% of all Puerto Rico’s rainforests were lost. Now, a conservation movement is fighting to protect and save the native animals of the island from extinction. Endangered species have been pushed to the edge of existence by human encroachment, but a committed team of biologists is determined to bring them back from the brink. Throughout the course of this film we meet three wildlife champions and the species they are endeavouring to save.
